Volcano National Park

Short but all inclusive; beginning and ending in Kigali with the genocide memorial and crafts market to the Gorillas of the Virungas in the Volcano National Park and the most early inhabitants the Batwa will make you

enjoy, learn and share the vast culture and history of the Rwandese people.

In about 250 Kms to the north is Parc National des Volcanoes  that share the 300 gorilla population with DR Congo Virunga NP and Uganda's Mgahinga NP. The park has ten habituated Gorilla families allowing only a maximum of eight guests per group. Other additional activities include a hike to the Karisoke volcano, tracking the golden monkeys, visiting Diana Fessey Karisoke Research centre.  It is interesting to note that that Park is part of continuum with other wildlife areas that collectively form Virunga Conservation Area with vivid three extinct volcanoes; Mgahinga, Sabinyo and Muhavura.

 Day 1: Arrival and Kinigi

On arrival, you will be met by our staff at Kanombe Airport in Kigali; he will help you with your luggage to the car and drive to Ruhengeri/ Kinigi Hotel three hour drive away from Kigali. After check-in, your guide will brief you about Rwanda, your travel itinerary and gorilla tracking rules and all what you require.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking.

After your early morning breakfast, with packed lunch, go for registration at the park offices and be ready for briefing at 7:00am. Walk up the steep densely forested hills before coming across the Gorillas camouflaged in the forest vegetation. This trek requires a reasonable degree of fitness as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. Sit in the forest among the Gorillas listening to them grumble to each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male. It is amazing to imagine that there only 700 individuals of these beautiful creatures left in the world.

Day 3: Kigali and Departure

After breakfast drive back to Kigali; visit the Genocide memorial and the crafts market, have lunch and transfer to the airport for your departure.
