Kidepo valley National Park

Kidepo National Park is located in the north eastern corner 700km away from Kampala, tucked between the borders with Sudan and Kenya. It is Uganda’s most isolated National Park. It is however the most magnificent wildlife National

Park not only in Uganda but Africa’s finest wildness.

The Park boasts of an amazing exciting fauna of any Ugandan National Park; a checklist of 77 species of mammals, several of which are restricted to Kidepo and Karamoja region alone. The restricted species include the bat eared Fox, striped Hyena, Aardwolf, Caracal, cheetah, lesser Kudu, Chandlers, mountain Reedbuck, Klipspringer, and quencher’s Dikdik.Other game include; Lion, Leopard, Sported Hyena, Black backed jackal, Side striped Jackal, Elephants, Burchell`s zebra, Bush pigs, Warthogs, Rothschild’s giraffe, Cape Buffaloes, Eland, Bushbuck, Bush duiker, Defassa waterbuck, Bohor reedbuck, Jackson's heartbeats, Oribi and five species of primates including Kavirondo Bush baby.

The Park enjoys an extensive bird checklist of 465 species second to Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Ostrich, Kori bustard, Secretary bird, Carmine bee eater, little green bee eater, Red throated bee eater, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Abyssinian roller, Abyssinian Scimitarbill, Yellow billed hornbill, Jackson's hornbill, KaramojaApalis to mention a few.Its also is also known for its Birds of prey of the 56 species recorded 14 are resident; these include Varreaux’s Eagle, Egyptian Vulture and Pygmy Falcon. There has however been little survey of birds in Kidepo so visitors have a chance to add to the checklist.
